Time for BLUNT TALK?

Why can't McCain make every speech about his differences in policy from Obama?

Our friend Michael G. Miller sent me this list this morning....he'd like McCain to hit hard on these subjects and I think he makes an excellent point:

I favor low taxes and smaller government while he favors..................

I favor winning the war while he favors.............................

I will appoint Constitutionally faithful judges while he will appoint..................

I am for life while he is for............................................

I believe in traditional marriage while he......................................

I support domestically produced energy and oil exploration while he favors...............................

I will enforce our federal border laws while he.............................................

I will support our ally Israel without compromising their right to existence while he will..........................

I oppose the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," "hate crimes" legislation, earmarks, affirmative action, the ACLU, etc. while he...........................

I support our troops and their mission while he.....................................................

Z: Wouldn't you THINK this kind of straight talk might work? Don't you think most Americans would see what's at stake? Americans are smart and fair and decent, most of them. Here's hoping McCain appeals to that. Enough running scared of RACISM, FEMINISM, etc. People know he's no racist, they know he honors women, they know this..they need straight talk (oh, talk about that, they know he doesn't hate gays, too!).........
Time to get tough. Time to remind people who has experience, who's served this country well, and we don't want a president terrorists like.

Thanks, Michael.

Who's really playing the dreaded RACE CARD?

Obama's accusing the McCain people of playing the RACE CARD. click on the link....interesting reading.
Remember, he was the one in Berlin who said, about 2 short paragraphs into his speech....
"I know that I don't look like the Americans who've previously spoken in this great city. The journey that led me here is improbable. My mother was born in the heartland of America, but my father grew up herding goats in Kenya. His father -- my grandfather -- was a cook, a domestic servant to the British." ....... Maybe he meant he's taller? Thinner? naa....you know what he meant.

What are your thoughts?
thanks, WV DOTTR xx

HONORING a REAL HERO, Mike Monsoor

I don't know who wrote this, but I wanted to have it here on my blog. The funeral took place in October of 2006, but I hadn't heard about this and thought maybe you hadn't, either. And it's real important:

Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor MA2 (SEAL) Mike Monsoor, a Navy Seal, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq , giving his life to save his fellow SEALs.

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of twos, with the coffin moving up the center.

As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin. The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see every day. Since the media won't make this news, I choose to make it news by forwarding it onto you guys. I am proud of our military and the men and women who serve in it. They represent the highest and finest values of this country.

A Book Recommendation

I highly recommend THE SUICIDE OF REASON, by Lee Harris, whom I heard interviewed today. Especially good for those who don't really quite understand the threat to Western civilization from Is lam. He REALLY gets it right.
from Amazon.com: "Harris is never "politically correct" but usually correct about politics including the polity of Isl am and the West's arrogance in thinking that they can count on their world always being the victor without having to lift a finger to win." He believes we're still not seeing the threat as seriously as we should and our enemy is counting on us for that.

Sweet Summer Days..........

No, this has nothing to do with politics, but I had to post it. In the Fifties, two little boys who'd been playing in the fields near their home stopped for some big, soft pretzels their mother had packed for them early that morning. They spent their the summers wandering, exploring, finding things to do. Sweet summer days..........little boys doing what they do best.

As an aside, I wanted to tell you all about something that happened during my preschool music class. They are studying BUGS this week so "Mrs Z" brought bug songs. One of them had to do with butterflies and I asked the 12 girls and 6 boys to stand up and dance like butterflies. Only the girls stood up. They were swaying, arms wide in the air, little butterfly ballerinas! Little Ryan, sitting on the floor, said "Mrs. Z, ask us to be SPIDERS!" Boys...Girls.....they're different! Alert the media! I hope you're having some sweet summer days, too. I ache for our children that they don't have the opportunities those 2 little boys above had.
Want to bet those two above were playing with some bugs, too!?

Sometimes doing nothing is the very best education, don't you think? Thanks for indulging me...I just had to post this picture!

Old People VOTING! But....for WHOM? I know..do you?

100-year-old Americans see election 2008 as historic

WASHINGTON (AFP) - For a majority of Americans who have lived to see their 100th birthdays, the November presidential election, which could be won by an African-American candidate, is the most important of their lives, according to a new survey.
Z: 'Which could be won by an African-American candidate'? Is the implication that THIS is why this election is "..the most important of their lives"? Of course that's what's implied. But, it's not true. My 82 yr old liberal Democrat aunt, JUST YESTERDAY on the phone, said "...I don't know about a Black president.." I was stunned because she's NO bigot. Yet, she hesitates to vote for Obama. I belong to a group of women many of whom are over 85 years old. I speak to some about politics and they and their elderly husbands (all of them) are voting for McCain because they still have traditional values, know how important it is to fight for this country, and are aware how dangerous raising taxes has always been. They feel this election is "the most important of their lives" because they want their grandchildren to have a future. They are panicked Obama could win. The article continues........

Some 53 percent of centenarians, who saw such course-changing elections as Franklin D. Roosevelt beating Herbert Hoover in 1932 and Ronald Reagan defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter in 1980, thought that the upcoming election, will be a key one in US history.
A full 70 percent said they intend to vote this year in the race between Democrat Barack Obama, who would be the first African-American president, and Vietnam war hero John McCain.

Z: Funny way to phrase it, isn't it? But effective. Listing Obama and that MOST IMPORTANT thing to vote for if you're a liberal...NOT the best prepared but that one "who would be the first African-American president..and..." oh, yes...."war hero John McCain." It sure looks like "a full 70 percent said they intended to vote this year FOR Democrat Barack Obama," doesn't it. Look at it again, scan it quickly like most readers do....sure it looks like that. Then we read.........

"I don't think I have missed an election since I was able to vote... I think everybody should have something to say in what's going on their life and not just take everything for granted," 100-year-old Marie Keeler told Evercare health care, which conducted the poll.

Z: The elderly I know think this is the most important vote in their life because our country needs a patriot, someone with great experience, who at least SOMETIMES says something GOOD about America. Maybe Marie Keeler feels the same, but the article doesn't say.

The Evercare survey was carried out between April 16 and May 4. (Article from Yahoo)

Z: Wouldn't you have thought they might have gone the mile, this "Evercare survey", and tell us WHO the centenarians are voting for? Why DIDN'T they? That's what polls usually do, no? Maybe they did, but Yahoo didn't like it?

Media bias again. Just in the way a piece is written. VERY powerful. Yahoo's about the worst and Google's practically stopped linking to the Conservative sites, and I suggested you Google "Republican images" and "Democrat images" and see what happens. Chuck followed my suggestion and said it was "incredible"....you'll see.

MORE MISLEADING INFORMATION I just heard this minute on L.A. radio:

"Jobs were up in American in the latest figures which just came out today...but THAT DOESN"T MEAN THE LABOR MARKET IS TURNING AROUND!" (GOD FORBID, huh? Don't let GOOD NEWS get in the way of the Left's gloom-n-doom pre-election negativity, right?)

BY THE WAY: I just did a Yahoo image search for "ELDERLY REPUBLICAN IMAGES" and John McCain is in the first picture! Subtle, huh? You can't make this stuff UP!!

The media's in LOVE!

UPDATE: I just saw this information about Obama and Bush's Executive Orders........maybe the MEDIA's "in love", but this blogger here, yours truly......oh, I'm experiencing QUITE a different emotion, TRUST ME ON THAT. Is there no END to this man's utter and total CONCEIT? grrrrr
NO COMMENT, ANYBODY? I THOUGHT THIS WAS HUGE! Maybe not...!?

REVERSE Discrimination with FOOD?

Aside from the absolute stupidity of this whole idea, who thinks this just might be a case of reverse discrimination?
I've got to admit...I don't eat it much, but I LOVE fast food!

Obama will stoop to ANYTHING.........

And now there's this. Who didn't think Obama's Wailing Wall note wasn't done for publicity?
What a really 'Good Christian', huh?

Teaching kids INCIVILITY

This link is one of the BEST examples I've ever read of how the Left perverts our kids.

State Senator James Meeks, Democrat, is telling children not to attend their school on the first day as a protest because other schools get more funding. He expects 'thousands' of kids to get in buses (sound familiar?) and go enroll in schools in a better district to show they're angry.

Teaching kids that doing what they're supposed to do and working to change things from within, legally, doesn't seem to matter: this Democrat wants to use children as pawns, get them angry, get them feeling 'less than' and get them on buses to disrupt the whole first day of school. Who's paying for the buses, I wonder? Welcome to another generation of kids who are being taught that they're entitled to what everyone else earned through hard work. Why can't the Left see that the only way everyone can be equal is in a little grey Mao jacket, metaphorically or otherwise? This demonstration is teaching kids the wrong thing....not to work harder to do better....just complain, crowd the nicer district's school with a big mess, ruin it for those kids through your own government-sanctioned civil disobedience...'teach 'em early!'....that'll show those people who succeeded and have better schools for their kids! Good for America? I don't think so.

Imagine if this Sen. Meeks got the message to the kids that they CAN do better without the extra funding their neighborhood can't provide due to lower taxes it pays? Imagine if he got parents involved like a poorer neighborhood in LA does, donating used computers, spending time cleaning the campus, tutoring? THAT teaches the kids "we may not have what others have, but we can make it on our own and with our parents' help" But, no.........we can't teach honor and integrity. Not in American schools. Not anymore.

(but, of course, what can we expect from a party 56% of whose members still think John Edwards is a favorable choice for VP for Obama? That speaks volumes, huh?)

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW! WE MUST STOP THIS!!

UPDATE: Here's the LATEST! I heard Obama doesn't only want to give away $845 BILLION, he is now saying WE need more stimulus packages! Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we didn't give away billions, maybe we wouldn't need stimulus packages? I was never great at math (TRUST me!) but............?? HELP!
Here's the story: Obama's $845 billion U.N. plan forwarded to U.S. Senate floor 'Global Poverty Act' to cost each citizen $2,500 or more. Even liberals have brains enough to know THIS isn't good for America. Except Obama, who proposed it, and his followers. Please, please get the news out that this is happening and contact your senators. And watch the Glenn Beck video..we have to be informed, even if it's of our demise. THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE. Z

Have a CIGAR..........maybe it'll HELP!

America's never been so divided, don't you think? Liberals hate Conservatives, Conservatives distrust Liberals. Our politicians get behind a lectern, with cameras clicking for the press and rolling for the television news, and thoroughly insult the other side with rancor and ugliness not really heard in public before. In the past, politicians, at least in public, strived to be polite and constructive, not demeaning and destructive. There was a decorum, a dignity to their position. Today, just for one example, Harry Reid frequently insults the president in pretty ugly terms and even called him a loser in a school! Senator Leahy had been on Cheney's back so long that Cheney finally unleashed an expletive not normally heard on the floor of the senate; we all remember that because that word got more media coverage than Obama's recently saying we need a national police force (but, I digress). Leahy just might have deserved that choice word, but it wasn't meant to be heard by anyone else. It was said between two grown men and probably could have done much to diffuse a build up of tension. That's my point:

We need to get back to smoke filled rooms. We need to have all congressmen and senators move their families to Washington, DC again. Republican wives could then meet Democrat wives at schools their children attend. Children, unaware of politics, could even play at the home of a political party different than their own! Moms would meet at soccer games, ballet class, churches, charities, etc. This is how it used to work; it wasn't ever so easy to fly home every weekend as it is now and maybe it works for the politicians, but it clearly isn't working for our country, and here's why:

If political families lived in Washington, fathers (all those politicians we look to every day to try to work together and get things done) just might get to know each other at a poker game or bar and find the other's not quite so bad as previously thought. A poker game could result in much farther reaching consequences than ever experienced before! Politicians would meet at cocktail parties with their wives and get along, given the chance. Putting politics aside for an hour or two could show two politicians the other's not really so bad, maybe they could even have a legitimate point about politics and maybe they should at least listen? Maybe they wouldn't use quite the language they're using today, in public, if they had to face the guy at a poker game that night or were meeting the other politician and his wife for dinner in three hours? And, if they did strongly disagree, they could argue and scream and get it over with. In private. Maybe they could share a cigar, light a guy's cigarette...poor another whiskey and "...let's discuss this again. Maybe there is room for compromise, you're a good guy...."

It's long been my opinion that the smoke filled rooms of yesterday are greatly underrated.

No faces, no names....but how could I not just post ONE picture of the wedding? My nephew and his gorgeous bride have their first dance all to themselves! Later, Mr. and Mrs. Z (and everyone else!) danced our feet off. Just hearing the song "SHOUT!" today would make my feet hurt. "Dancin' the night away............."

A Cuban writes about Fidel............and Barack

Letter to the Editor, The Tryon Daily Bulletin, Tryon, N.C. July 25, 2008 ***(see below)

Would We?

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4, I celebrate America’s. This year is special for it marks the fortieth anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the USA to stay.
I thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s most Cubans needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I will bring you change,“ everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel.”

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent, the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down … to third world status. By the time change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts and inner tubes. … And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, “What Change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?”

Would we? ~ Manuel Alvarez, Jr.

***I had rec'd this as an email yesterday with no attribution. I just called the North Carolina paper to make sure it was real and they had checked it out before publishing. Thanks to Free Thinker (FT) and my friend Betty for getting this to me. Please send this to your email buddies. Check this out, then ask yourself why I Googled CHE GUEVARA POSTER OBAMA CAMPAIGN OFFICES and didn't get that picture we all saw when it was found out that there was a Che poster on the wall in the Houston Obama office. "..not a single original thought.." says at least one German politican

Here is an article of what most German politicians thought of Obama's speech. The most critical comments are from the only politician not in office today. He has nothing to lose if Obama is elected, of course. "There wasn't a single original thought..." he complained.
True. Of course, some of the politicians make it sound like America's never listened to Europe in the last eight years; in fact, we are apparently supposed to sit up and beg when we get such little assistance from them regarding the war, or looking into Oil for Food, etc., but applaud and smile when Kyoto demands America pays the for carbon footprints of China and India, right? Take a look yourself.....interesting article.

This comment stuck out the most to me: "Will a German candidate for chancellor in the election campaign of 2009 want to speak to Americans at the Washington Monument?"
Z: I doubt it.

OBAMA SPEAKS IN BERLIN

So..........what'd you think of the speech? Got any quotes which REALLY bugged YOU, too? You go first. I'll be right there behind you...........
Let me start with a quip by wonderful political cartooonist Michael Ramirez: "Ich bin ein beginner." ya.

(and please read my post below (and the great comments), there might be some things you hadn't heard, particularly the UPDATES)

thanks, Priscilla, for the quote! Photo from Germany's FAZ

Obama at the Tiergarten! Next week, ELTON JOHN!!? And Mr. Z provides us ALL with a SCOOP you might not see anywhere else

Is this only a candidate's speech in Europe or is this a rock concert? The Germans didn't prepare this poster, by the way....this is all Obama's camp's doing. And he IS only a CANDIDATE still, isn't he?!! Germans are mixed on this gig, and our media could learn from the even handedness of this article, but the thing that stuck out at me was "He isn't Bush". Need one do much more than look at this poster to know that? He's not any other of America's politicians, either.....who had quite THIS much ego in the past? (and considering some of the egos on our presidents, that's saying a lot, isn't it?) NO president has ever done campaign/rock concert posters before, at least none that I've seen. Says a lot. Most of it BAD.

Oh, and isn't this a gem? "Former German President Richard von Weizsaecker said the Obama event could help pave the way for a new trans-Atlantic relationship.
"Kennedy said the famous sentence, 'Ich bin ein Berliner,'" von Weizsaecker told the Bild newspaper.
"Obama could send the Berlin signal: America is counting on Europe for its future." "

Well, who knew? AND.........................

HERE IS THE SCOOP:

Umfrage (Questions at Die Welt)

Was halten Sie von Barack Obamas Auftritt in Berlin? What is your opinion about Obama’s appearance in Berlin?

4% Spannend (EXCITED)- ich gehe auf jeden Fall hin – I’ll go and see certainly

23% Wichtig (IMPORTANT) - ich sehe mir die Rede im Fernsehen an – I will watch the speech on TV

8% Langweilig (BORING) - Obama interessiert mich nicht – Obama doesn’t interest me

65%
Nervig (ANNOYING)- dieser Obama-Hype ist total übertrieben – this Obama hype is totally out of proportion

Aktuell: 2959 Stimmen (voices who voted)

GERMANS ARE MOSTLY NOT IMPRESSED? ALERT CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, NYTimes, LA Times, Chicago Tribune...........SOMEBODY should get it right. I mean, THEY ARE THERE, that's FOR SURE!

ANOTHER SCOOP I'm just hearing now: Obama met with Berlin's mayor (who came back from vacation for the honor) in a hotel to talk, not a public place, because "Obama thought other European capitals might be jealous"....from Die Welt

AND NOW THERE IS THIS: Obama canceled plans to visit the German military bases at the last minute to work out at the gym and 'see Berlin'....make sure you read the whole article at FreeRepublic...click on 'Spiegel'. I'd have made that a priority, to see troops, wouldn't you have?

Still fighting.........still wishing he could come home......

Don't forget they're still over there fighting...........every single day. And it's hot over there. They're tough men and women with tender hearts. Pray for our troops. Never ever forget our troops.

PATRIOTISM back in the class room!

I'm single handedly going to make our children PATRIOTIC!

(well, not ALL of them, but at least the children at the preschool! ) I've given up my 'music teacher' hat and am going to let someone else do music from now on. I had an idea (uhoh..LOOK OUT!)

I am going to teach PATRIOTISM. The flag is going back up in the classrooms again (nobody knows why they were removed but we know it wasn't to be unpatriotic!) and I'm going to do a thirty minute class once a week. Here's the rub:

I NEED IDEAS! Betsy Ross, George Washington and the cherry tree, Honest Abe studying by candlelight.........Anything from American history/lore that you think might be fun for kids. Give me ideas and I can make it kid-friendly. It could be a song, a story, an item in history that might fascinate the little ones.
PLEASE help me out. I'd love to get some ideas from you good readers and friends and look forward to hearing them! Thanks so much!
(and recommend this to private schools near you. We could start a trend!)

Do you think the NY Times will print THESE pearls of wisdom from Barack?

From Obama's book "Dreams of My Father":

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

"There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I had packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And here's the clincher. From "Audacity of Hope":

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

So, NY Times........you printed Obama's editorial which you think made your hero look great! Let's see you print these. Instead, they print this ODE TO OBAMA, A LOVE STORY. Check it out.

and thanks, Mr. Z, for the link

Media bias AGAIN...........this time, it's almost unbelievable

NYT REJECTS MCCAIN'S EDITORIAL; SHOULD 'MIRROR' OBAMA

Drudge Posted on Monday, July 21, 2008

"An editorial written by Republican presidential hopeful McCain has been rejected by the NEW YORK TIMES -- less than a week after the paper published an essay written by Obama, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The paper's decision to refuse McCain's direct rebuttal to Obama's 'My Plan for Iraq' has ignited explosive charges of media bias in top Republican circles.
'It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama's piece,' NYT Op-Ed editor David Shipley explained in an email late Friday to McCain's staff. 'I'm not going to be able to accept this piece as currently written.'

In McCain's submission to the TIMES, he writes of Obama: 'I am dismayed that he never talks about winning the war—only of ending it... if we don't win the war, our enemies will. A triumph for the terrorists would be a disaster for us. That is something I will not allow to happen as president.'
NYT's Shipley advised McCain to try again: 'I'd be pleased, though, to look at another draft.'
[Shipley served in the Clinton Administration from 1995 until 1997 as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Presidential Speechwriter.]

A top McCain source claims the paper simply does not agree with the senator's Iraq policy, and wants him to change it, not "re-work the draft."
McCain writes in the rejected essay: 'Progress has been due primarily to an increase in the number of troops and a change in their strategy. I was an early advocate of the surge at a time when it had few supporters in Washington. Senator Barack Obama was an equally vocal opponent. 'I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there,' he said on January 10, 2007. 'In fact, I think it will do the reverse.'

Shipley, who is on vacation this week, explained his decision not to run the editorial.
'The Obama piece worked for me because it offered new information (it appeared before his speech); while Senator Obama discussed Senator McCain, he also went into detail about his own plans.' Shipley continues: 'It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama's piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq.' "

z: OH, it had to be ARTICULATE, if only McCain had been TOLD that, huh?

geeeeeeeeeeeZ! and thanks, WV DOTTR

MONDAY MORNING with DOONESBURY....and my improvement on it

Sunday's Doonesbury cartoon:
"NO MEDIA BIAS", right? !!!
SOMEWHERE IN MIDDLE AMERICA: A man and woman on folding chairs outside their RV with the BBQ next to them. She's wearing a cross and has a tattoo. They're both swiggin' beers. (but nobody accuses Trudeau of elitism, right?)
Her: "You know, I was once one of those voters who wanted to have a beer with George Bush.... this was before I figured out he'd never want to have a beer with someone like me. Even if he DID drink, it'd be with his rich cronies! And, after Katrina and the war, I decided maybe it's better to have a president who's competent than one who's beer-worthy."

Him: "Yea...that's probably right..... But, who knew?

Her: "Well, exactly. It seemed like SUCH a good reason to vote for someone!"
Z TURNS THE TABLES:

SOMEWHERE IN NYC OR LA OR CHICAGO OR MIAMI: A man and woman on chic little wood and chrome chairs at their local coffee bar. She's wearing a peace sign and tiny coke spoon on a leather string. They're both sippin' "nonfat milk decaf" lattes.

Her: "You know, I was once one of those voters who wanted to do coke with Barack Obama....this was before I figured out he'd never want to do lines with someone like me. Even if he DID still do coke, it'd be in secret, not with people in the wrong part of Greenwich Village! And, after the economy collapsed and Iraq fell to Iran, I decided maybe it's better to have a president who's competent than one who's coke-worthy."

Him: "Yes, indeed...that's most certainly true... but we believed the media. We thought he had America's best interests at heart. Heck, we even liked the wife! But who knew?"

Her: "Well, exactly, it seemed like SUCH a good reason to vote for someone!"
Z again: Works for me. Too bad THE RIGHT doesn't have a cartoon in the LA or NY Times, huh? IMAGINE IF THE RIGHT DID THIS CARTOON? THE HELL WE'D GET FROM THE LEFT??

Therein lies the problem, folks...THEY do have the cartoon.

*(please weigh in on the article below, too....I'm really curious!)

Are HIGH GAS PRICES good for us?

Even the dollar bill's angry about gas prices stretching it thin!

I was just wondering about something: L.A. traffic is bad. Believe me. But, it hasn't been quite that bad lately. Somebody's getting to work without getting into his car, apparently.

Are you experiencing lighter traffic than usual in your community?
Could these horrid gas prices be showing people they don't need to take their car, thereby promoting better air quality, less commuter stress, less miles on the odometer and tires?

Could this be a kind of blessing in disguise, or are you guys going to give me hell for having suggested it!? Go ahead.......tell me about your traffic and if you think this COULD be a good thing. Or if you think I've lost my mind. I can take it. :-)

SNUBBED BY OBAMA.....the European press isn't getting any

"SNUBBED BY OBAMA"

By Christoph von Marschall, a German journalist, and translated by the Washington Post. Sunday, July 20, 2008

Barack Obama is on his way to Europe, where an adoring public awaits. But I wonder if the reception would be quite so enthusiastic if Obama's fans across the Atlantic knew a dirty little secret of his remarkable presidential campaign: Although Obama portrays himself as the best candidate to engage the rest of the world and restore America's image abroad, and many Americans support him for that reason, so far he has almost completely refused to answer questions from foreign journalists. When the press plane leaves tonight for his trip, there will be, as far as I know, no foreign media aboard. The Obama campaign has refused multiple requests from international reporters to travel with the candidate.

As a German correspondent in Washington, I am accustomed to the fact that American politicians spare little of their limited time for reporters from abroad. This is understandable: Our readers, viewers and listeners cannot vote in U.S. elections. Even so, Obama's opponents have managed to make at least a small amount of time for international journalists. John McCain has given many interviews. Hillary Clinton gave a few. President Bush regularly holds round-table interviews with media from the countries to which he travels. Only Obama dismisses us so consistently.

This spring Obama allowed at least one foreign reporter on trips to Ohio and Texas. But as the campaign has progressed, access has become more difficult for foreign correspondents. E-mail inquiries get no reply, phone calls are not returned. My colleagues and I know: We are last in line. We don't matter.

In September 2007, I gave a lecture in Iowa titled "The U.S. in the World: How They See Us." People in the audience asked me about the working conditions of foreign journalists and were surprised to learn how little access Obama had given us. Several Iowans wrote to his campaign to protest. In contrast to me, they did hear back: In a letter dated Nov. 24, the campaign assured one of these people that Obama cares about the foreign media and wants to increase openness. The letter even said that my contact information had been forwarded to the campaign's communications department.

There was no follow-up.

Since I followed the Obama campaign in its early stages and published a sympathetic (and widely read) book in German about the Illinois senator, I probably have more access than most. I know the Obama "policy advisers" in Washington think tanks and the like; sometimes I manage a fleeting encounter with the senator's press staff at campaign events. Yet I can only dream of an interview with the candidate. To my knowledge, no foreign journalist has had one. A reported interview in France's Politique Internationale last summer turned out to be a fake. In February, Obama gave Israel's Yediot Ahronot written answers to written questions about his views on Israel and the Middle East.

Perhaps Obama considers members of the foreign media a risk rather than an opportunity. His campaign learned the hard way how comments to foreigners can resonate at home -- recall adviser Austan Goolsbee's hints to a Canadian diplomat that Obama's critique of NAFTA was just campaign rhetoric, or former aide Samantha Power's "monster" remark about Hillary Clinton to the Scotsman. Or perhaps we're witnessing the arrogance that comes from being so close to power. One of his campaign advisers told me recently: "Why should we take the time for foreign media, since there is Obamania around the world?"

Obama is indeed popular in my country and elsewhere in Europe. But Europeans have the same questions about his experience and character that Americans do. Unlike U.S. citizens, we can't vote in the election; its results, though, will affect our lives, much as it will affect theirs. Surely a man who has said he would talk with U.S. adversaries such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can spend a few moments with journalists from friendlier countries.

Z: I know many of you don't give a darn about what Europe thinks, but I thought this article says a lot more about Obama than Europe.

A NEW PRISCILLA'S POST: A NATIONAL POLICE FORCE?

Barack Obama, in a speech given in Colorado Springs on July 2nd, announced what he called, "the central cause" of his Presidency, assuming he is elected of course. This cause should not be a surprise to those of us who pay attention. We know he first gained notice, or so he says, through community organizing in Chicago, a rather vague term which implies bringing people together for a common cause such as volunteerism as prescribed by the organizers.

The central cause of his Presidency would in fact be community organizing on ‘steroids’. Yes, national service for everyone. Come, young and old, something for everyone! He will ‘fix’ our souls through volunteerism whether we like it or not. His most pointed focus is on American youth. The psychology of this is for the participants to believe they are community leaders and contributors, when in reality they are being 'led', with all its implications.

In Obama's speech, he described how beneficial this was for him and his wife. Well, we can see how beneficial it was for him, he’s running for President isn’t he? He did associate with the influential and powerful people in Chicago. So, of course it stands to reason it is near and dear to his heart, this organizing. Well, now he thinks it should be near and dear to ours, also! After all, what was good enough for Barack, should be good enough for us......right?

Here are some examples of his plans for America; He will expand AmeriCorps from 75,000, to 250,000 slots and will make that a service to meet "national goals like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world so that citizens see their efforts connected to a common purpose. People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve". He goes on to say; "This will empower more Americans to craft their own service agenda and make their own change from the bottom up."

Besides AmeriCorps, here are other goals he states; expand our Foreign Service, the Peace Corps, and USA Freedom Corps. Form the following: Social Investment Fund Network, and an Energy Corps. All middle and high school students are to serve 50 hours a year and federal assistance will be conditional on school districts developing service programs. Mandatory volunteerism! All college students to serve 100 hours a year will receive a $4000.00 annual tax credit. The cost of all this would be billions.

This is the plan of a demagogue. Barack Obama, it should be clear, has no conception of what it is to respect a free people. He describes a nation of people with one devotion and one devotion only. While he tells us this will make us a better society and a complete people, what he is really saying is we are to be a nation of, by, and for the state. What he envisions is change alright. He believes it is we who must change, and he believes the state must make this happen. We are, in his eyes, fodder to conform to his vision of what we should be.

The final excerpt is not found in the prepared text of his remarks which was distributed to the media. However, it was inserted into his speech. Upon referring to our military, he said this;
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set, we’ve got to have a civilian National Security Force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded." (z: the entire speech, including this tidbit the media conveniently left out, can be heard here at about 16 minutes into it; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df2p6867_pw )

I leave this for last because, while the rest is disturbing at best, this is truly frightening. This is a National Police Force he is suggesting. What, really, does Obama think is needed to "save the planet"? The mind conjures up images of history past. The Gestapo, the KGB, Cuba, where neighbor informs on neighbor. The Hitler Youth?

We are confronted by a man in whom, behind an engaging smile and relaxed demeanor, lies a creature of the far-left. He has been tutored well to be the face that belies the intentions of the left. He has laid out the blueprint he foresees for America and her people. He has not come this far, this fast, alone. It has been decided and the time is now.

More great thinking, Priscilla...thanks so much. Americans need to pay attention to what you say.......let's not throw out the constitution!

Is AL GORE going to the CHINA OLYMPICS with a gas mask on? DARE HE?

PLEASE SEE THE EXCELLENT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MR. Z JUST PROVIDED IN "COMMENTS" I THINK IT'S WORTHWHILE READING........if you know Al Gore, could you .....?

WHY isn't Gore slamming the CHINESE for their horrible environment? "A World Bank study found China is home to 16 of the 20 worst cities for air quality. Three-quarters of the water flowing through urban areas is unsuitable for drinking or fishing."

China's practically closing China DOWN in preparation for the Olympics, hoping that, in 3 weeks, they'll have 'crystalline' air!? Read the link and then remember that there are Americans who blame US for polluting the world.

Why don't we hear about this, this, this? Now do yourself a favor and read THIS ONE from the "RepublicanandProud" blog.... WHAT an article! Here's an excerpt: "So, coming back to the outrageous statement made by Barack Obama, why should Americans lower their living standards while the rest of the world pollutes at will? Why should Americans suffer as members of the United Nations jet around the world and ride in limousines around New York City, tut-tutting about how Americans are ruining the planet?"
WHEN will the Left GET IT? NO Conservative wants a polluted world! Conservatives are trying not to sign the Kyoto Agreement because it'll be AMERICA paying to FIX THE WORLD (enter Obama...sound about right?...is FIX THE WORLD actually part of his offical platform? I think so!). Conservatives just want REASON, we want to do what we can without killing our country in the doing, we want the side which says humans aren't entirely culpable for global climate change to be heard.

Here is just one more worthwhile read...from which comes this: "... the climatic effects of the Kyoto Protocol would be negligible, leading them (the authors of the report) to state “Thus, the Kyoto Protocol is a good example of how to achieve the minimum results with the maximum efforts (and sacrifices). Impact of available human controls will be negligible in comparison with the global forces of nature. Thus, the attempts to alter the occurring global climatic changes (and drastic measures prescribed by the Kyoto Protocol) have to be abandoned as meaningless and harmful.” Seems fair to me that scientists with this viewpoint should at least be involved in legitimate and open discussion? But, they're not, they weren't invited to the latest meeting in Bali, remember?

CHINA. Are some of us more on THEIR side than OURS? OH, and AL? If you're going to the Olympics, remember how much nicer it is HERE, okay?

There are simply no words..............

Did you all hear Alan Colmes say that the media might not have followed McCain to Iraq because McCain didn't INVITE THEM? DID YOU HEAR THAT? "Oh, sure, Alan....The reason Couric and Gibson and Williams are following Obama on his upcoming trip is because Obama INVITED THEM! THAT's why they're going with him......(WHAT??!)"

OH, my GOSH, Alan...you are a PIP (and I don't mean those great singers with Gladys, TRUST ME!) (I'd illustrate this with a picture of Alan, but, quite honestly? I simply can't..never gonna happen at geeeeZ!)

OOPS! You can't make this stuff up!

HE MISSPOKE..OKAY, we ALL do that...but the other two guys never flinched! VERY weird to hear..ENJOY! We can all use a laugh, right!?

The N WORD.....Why would Whoopi stick up for it?

Did most of you hear the flap about a discussion regarding the N word on ABC's THE VIEW Thursday?
Whoopi Goldberg argued that only Blacks should use the N word. Co-hostess Sherri Shepard feels the same way.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck wept, saying this is a word nobody should use.
"It's something that means something way different to me than it does to you," said Shepard who is Black.

My husband and I had a conversation about it and we're wondering what your opinions are.
WE don't use the word......Elisabeth says nobody should. Whoopi and Sherri feel Blacks can....no problem. So.............what do you think?
Would it be better if NOBODY used it?
BY the way...check out Papa Frank's blog....he has a quote by Booker T. Washington you won't want to miss.

The Chinese think of EVERYTHING, huh!?

This is a sign for the Chinese Olympics....did YOU know the Chinese were THIS accomodating?

Coming to a neighborhood near you..............mosques and minarets

Caption from Germany's SPIEGEL article: Resized after protests: The planners of this mega-mosque in Cologne were forced to scale back their blueprints as a result of public protest. The architects reduced the overall size of the mosque, but they preserved the original height dimensions for its minarets. (SCALE BACK?)

"Not in My Backyard, Say an Increasing Number of Germans"
Germans are not happy. Yes, we could say "it's about time they woke up to islam in their midst", but when you (PLEASE, it's SO IMPORANT) read this, you'll see alarming parallels to our country and how we're even MORE averse to complaining about what's going on, more politically correct, so fearful of offending anyone while we halfheartedly defend our culture. Be honest when you give this thought. We MUST get this story out there, it's such a cautionary tale.

To those of you who are working hard (and here's at least one person from our blogging world who's doing that, please listen tonight to a new radio show which will be telling the truth!) , and I know there are also others of you who are trying to stop preaching to our choir and get the real information out there, God bless you!

THE MEDIA LIED AND AMERICA SIGHED......

OBAMA'S GOING OVERSEAS! Did you hear about that? (with Gibson, Couric AND Williams!)

"If this were John McCain's first trip to the war zone, that would be a story and we would cover it big time," said Paul Friedman, the senior vice president of CBS News. "This is Senator Obama's first trip — his positions and the public's perception of him on national security issues are important."

"Chuck Todd, the political director for NBC News, said Obama's ability to draw media interest should not be surprising. "This is the way all of the new guys are treated — whether it was Ronald Reagan, Michael Dukakis, Bill Clinton or George W. Bush," Todd said. "There's always a candidate who gets more 'new guy' treatment versus the other one, and it's not always positive."

Z: Oh, okay...so if they don't cover McCain's trip, at least they've covered their bases, right? "He's been there before.. and he's not a NEW GUY" Tell me, just how FREAKING dishonest can our media be?? How STUPID do they think we ARE?
More from the linked article: "In the last couple of weeks Obama has graced the front of Rolling Stone and, for the second time now, that of Us Weekly (both of which are owned by the company of a prominent Obama supporter, Jann Wenner)."

By the way, Michelle's staying home. SO, if Cindy goes FIRST, you think she'll be "on the cover of the Rolling Stone?" "Ha, ha, ha, I don't believe it.." as the lyrics say........
thanks, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show!

Mal's take on Fannie and Freddie.......and bail outs

Here’s some information from an old friend who has some experience from having worked with Fannie Mae some years back…he wanted to write a piece for the blog so my readers might better understand some things he feels are misunderstood:

Bailing out Fannie and Freddie wouldn’t really be anything new. All of this used to be owned by the government. Congress created FNMA (Fannie-Mae), which stands for Federal National Mortgage Association, in 1938 during the Great Depression, and Freddie Mac (FHLMC), Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, in 1970. It was the only part of our government which made a profit so, naturally, they privatized it! (Go figure!)

An important thing I want to point out is this whole situation is not as dire as the media is making it. It’s only a loan and most, if not all, of the loans will eventually be repaid by the borrowers in these pools of loans at the various banks and other lending institutions. The media won’t point that out! Once the government bails out the bank, the government owns all the loans in that pool and keeps the interest. The bank gets paid a percentage, usually ¼%, so it’s not like the rest of our national debt for which we will never be reimbursed…..see my point?

Mal Telloian
Las Vegas, Nevada

Do you see Mal’s point? Please chime in if you agree or disagree or just have something to add. I think a lot of us are in the dark on this stuff (I know I am!) and would like even more information! TONIGHT the news is reporting that Bernanke has said Fannie and Freddie are in good shape. They back approximately 51% of the mortgages in this country.

This morning, the GOPUSA sent me this: Another viewpoint worth reading: by Lawrence Kudlow re: Fannie and Freddie. All very interesting.

Lucky for PELOSI, most people missed this......and WHERE IS McCAIN? (you really want to know?)

Can you BLAME this guy?

"It's the economy, Mr. President.." , Nancy Pelosi demanded yesterday. Doesn't that sound like "it's the economy, STUPID"?

Where were the Republicans and why didn't they complain?

How can the media ignore the slam? Does she think she invented that phrase "it's the economy...."? Does she think we're all stupid enough not to get her inference? "Mr. President = Stupid" And by the way, does anybody here think more REBATES are a good idea?

ALSO: Does it appear to you that Bush is taking suggestions from OBAMA? We're talking with IRAN? And we're reducing troops this FALL? GREAT! What a terrific message to send before elections, huh? "OH, OBAMA RECOMMENDED THOSE THINGS? OH..........................oops."

Meanwhile, WHERE IS McCAIN? Oh, yes..he's promising the NAACP school vouchers and speaking to LA RAZA about amnesty reform. Who's running our campaign, JAMES CARVILLE???

Don't you love being a Conservative? "Kumbaya...kumbaya............."??? HELP!

THIS WAR...by Barack Obama (not so fast..by Z)

You know, I have mixed emotions about this war...but this speech by Obama just seemed a little bizarre to me and I want to address it:

CHICAGO — The call by Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki for a timetable for the removal of American troops from Iraq presents an enormous opportunity. We should seize this moment to begin the phased redeployment of combat troops that I have long advocated, and that is needed for long-term success in Iraq and the security interests of the United States.

Um. This has been the Bush Plan from the start. "when Iraqi troops can take over, we'll pull out troops."

The differences on Iraq in this campaign are deep. Unlike Senator John McCain, I opposed the war in Iraq before it began, and would end it as president. I believed it was a grave mistake to allow ourselves to be distracted from the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban by invading a country that posed no imminent threat and had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. Since then, more than 4,000 Americans have died and we have spent nearly $1 trillion. Our military is overstretched. Nearly every threat we face — from Afghanistan to Al Qaeda to Iran — has grown.

As much as we value every single American life, this is the smallest amount of deaths we've ever suffered in any war. Wasn't the toppling of Saddam worth going into Iraq for? What about the intelligence we saw at the time? Why aren't you discussing the yellow cake that was recently moved, which even the Assoc. Press admitted was "part of Saddam's nuclear ambition". WHAT? I thought he had no ambitions and there was no stockpiling supporting those ambitions?

In the 18 months since President Bush announced the surge, our troops have performed heroically in bringing down the level of violence. New tactics have protected the Iraqi population, and the Sunni tribes have rejected Al Qaeda — greatly weakening its effectiveness.
But the same factors that led me to oppose the surge still hold true. The strain on our military has grown, the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated and we’ve spent nearly $200 billion more in Iraq than we had budgeted. Iraq’s leaders have failed to invest tens of billions of dollars in oil revenues in rebuilding their own country, and they have not reached the political accommodation that was the stated purpose of the surge.

Wouldn't you say this is a great step for Iraq? The surge accomplished what you just complimented, Mr. Obama. Funny, the left's always talking about the horrid things we've done to Iraq; if we only HAD, wouldn't it have included taking their oil?! Maybe we should have just taken some of those tens of billions we deserve, huh? I mean, if it WAS 'for OIL", why aren't we ROLLING in it?

The good news is that Iraq’s leaders want to take responsibility for their country by negotiating a timetable for the removal of American troops. Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. James Dubik, the American officer in charge of training Iraq’s security forces, estimates that the Iraqi Army and police will be ready to assume responsibility for security in 2009.

NOW you've got it, Barack! THIS was exactly what we've been waiting and hoping for in Iraq. You were the one against this war, now YOUR plan is to capitalize on exactly what George Bush had said might happen? The good news is this is exactly what we hoped for......but, you're still saying you were against this war..!! Could we have come to this point (Saddam gone, Iraqis ready to take over) without it?

Only by redeploying our troops can we press the Iraqis to reach comprehensive political accommodation and achieve a successful transition to Iraqis’ taking responsibility for the security and stability of their country. Instead of seizing the moment and encouraging Iraqis to step up, the Bush administration and Senator McCain are refusing to embrace this transition — despite their previous commitments to respect the will of Iraq’s sovereign government. They call any timetable for the removal of American troops “surrender,” even though we would be turning Iraq over to a sovereign Iraqi government.

It's NUMBERS, Barack. Would you take EVERYONE out of there in 2009? You really think all those lives we lost aren't worth sticking around a bit to make SURE the Iraqis can take over?

But this is not a strategy for success — it is a strategy for staying that runs contrary to the will of the Iraqi people, the American people and the security interests of the United States. That is why, on my first day in office, I would give the military a new mission: ending this war.
As I’ve said many times, we must be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in. We can safely redeploy our combat brigades at a pace that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 — two years from now, and more than seven years after the war began. After this redeployment, a residual force in Iraq would perform limited missions: going after any remnants of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, protecting American service members and, so long as the Iraqis make political progress, training Iraqi security forces. That would not be a precipitous withdrawal.

Not ALL American people think staying is a bad thing, Barack. PLEASE don't speak for me. Ah, so now you're touting and planning the exact thing Bush and McCain had originally hoped for? GOOD, Barack..glad to hear it.

In carrying out this strategy, we would inevitably need to make tactical adjustments. As I have often said, I would consult with commanders on the ground and the Iraqi government to ensure that our troops were redeployed safely, and our interests protected. We would move them from secure areas first and volatile areas later. We would pursue a diplomatic offensive with every nation in the region on behalf of Iraq’s stability, and commit $2 billion to a new international effort to support Iraq’s refugees.

Oh, and just how do you plan to protect our interests with no troops left behind to do exactly that? Which countries in the region are so happy to support US? Iran? Syria? Saudi Arabia? WHAT? Which of these countries are SO friendly to us that they'd help us? And, I guess your idea of supporting Iraq's refugees is bringing them all to California, RIGHT?

Ending the war is essential to meeting our broader strategic goals, starting in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the Taliban is resurgent and Al Qaeda has a safe haven. Iraq is not the central front in the war on terrorism, and it never has been. As Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently pointed out, we won’t have sufficient resources to finish the job in Afghanistan until we reduce our commitment to Iraq.

Barack...everybody wants to reduce our commitment to Iraq, buddy. That IS the 'plan' you say never existed.

As president, I would pursue a new strategy, and begin by providing at least two additional combat brigades to support our effort in Afghanistan. We need more troops, more helicopters, better intelligence-gathering and more nonmilitary assistance to accomplish the mission there. I would not hold our military, our resources and our foreign policy hostage to a misguided desire to maintain permanent bases in Iraq.

BARACK OBAMA: WAR EXPERT.

In this campaign, there are honest differences over Iraq, and we should discuss them with the thoroughness they deserve. Unlike Senator McCain, I would make it absolutely clear that we seek no presence in Iraq similar to our permanent bases in South Korea, and would redeploy our troops out of Iraq and focus on the broader security challenges that we face. But for far too long, those responsible for the greatest strategic blunder in the recent history of American foreign policy have ignored useful debate in favor of making false charges about flip-flops and surrender.

WHAT is the difference between keeping some presence in S. Korea and keeping a presence in Iraq? Aren't Iraqis as important as S. Koreans? Mightn't we need to have something there in case we have problems in IRAN? Do you think IRAN likes us there? Doesn't it send a pretty good message to Iran to behave while America's deployed over there, right next door?

It’s not going to work this time. It’s time to end this war.

No, they're not false charges, pal...they're valid. And Americans do NOT surrender.

good speech, Barack...now write it again with love of America, safety for Iraqis, and a dislike for Iran's government as your motivation. That might help. Thanks.
What do you all think? Help me out here........................

Democrats! Arabs LOVE YOU!

Sure, we ALL know Arabs are dancing about the fact that Democrats are keeping them in the oil money, but there are other things happening in America that Arabs/muslims ought to be delighted about, don't you think? They just bought the Chrysler Building, just to name one thing..................there are more.

Help me list them! grrrrrr ...

What COLD WAR? The truth about Russia...by Mr. Z

The most underrated danger in this world: RUSSIA

The fall of the wall only happened 17 years ago and today Russia has 101 billionaires, 40 of whom were added last year alone. These guys are mostly young, in their forties. How could that be? They are almost all in the energy business (in other words, resources given away by the state), and almost all of them have a link to the Ex-KGB head Mr. Bush called “my friend Vladimir”. Putin himself is considered one of the richest people in the world. What? And how? Well, as a “former” KGB guy, he knows how to conceal anything and how to play people. He is probably the only person in this world who is better than Saddam Hussein was in this field.

So, how's this make Russia dangerous? Let me put it this way: In some exceptional cases, I hate to be right! Follow me here... After the Iron Curtain fell in 1989, Germany became reunited in 1990 (mainly because of the stubbornness of Helmut Kohl and the farsightedness of President George H.W. Bush against the will of the Soviets) and the Soviet empire crumbled, most of the politicians in the West declared the cold war over. Consequently, in view of budget problems, most all of the Western countries dramatically reduced their expenditures for the Military. That was particularly true for those countries which were or later became governed by leftist governments (such as the U.S., and later Germany).

I said at that time: “Not so fast – the fight isn’t over with the remnants of communism in Russia”.

Boy, was I right on. Particularly since Putin has come to power, there is an absolutely ruthless use of power driving Russian politics. The examples are endless, so we will concentrate on only a few examples to make my point.

Russia has the largest reserves of energy in the world, but these reserves are treated only as a means to provide power to Russia and money to its ruling class.

For the last several years, Moscow has ruthlessly used the energy supply to blackmail the recipients of their supplies, forcing them to accept their demands. Numerous examples include cutting supplies to Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, and Czech Republic (see this link!). The latest blackmailing is typical and one of the more bizarre ones: After the Czech Republic signed an agreement with the United States for the stationing of elements of the missile defense system, Moscow not only threatened military action, but also shortened the oil supply to the Czech Republic this week without giving further explanation.

Now, what is Russia’s main interest? Let me re-state that: What is the interest of those in Putin’s circle? Simple: Money and power. When you see how the Russian newly-riches act in Western Europe, you need a big bucket!! There is no graciousness about showing their richness – and no difference to the other energy rich camel riders from the ME. The arrogance makes everybody ion Europe speechless. Do you know what the biggest problem was when the Russian team made it to the Semifinal Soccer game in Basel/Switzerland a few weeks ago? Answer: There were not enough 5-star hotels in the area, and there was not enough space on the tarmac on the Basel/Mulhouse airport for the private planes.

These scenarios in Russia, with a few people owning so much while so many starve, have communist character (the leading class in such classless societies have always lived very well) combined with Mafia attitudes. Whoever gets into their way is killed, see the agent Litvinenko in London, just to provide one example.

Russia today uses its powers to the fullest extent and without regard to what everybody else thinks, including “friend” George W. Bush. As is usual in this age of total belief in the goodness of the United Nations, Russia follows its own interest with vigor and ruthlessness. Examples would include Zimbabwe, where action against that country was inhibited by a Veto of Russia, China and South Africa (you can easily identify the reasons for each of them). And the delivery of the most modern anti-missile system and nuclear technology to Iran is another typical example of action in their own, selfish interest against public opinion. Where is the outcry of the world community (if such a thing exists)? Can you imagine what would happen if the U.S. did something like that?

And to further prove the point: The Russian Republic uses a lot of its energy income to drastically enhance its military force. If everything is so peaceful, why are they doing that, while at the same time the U.S. is continually reducing its military power?

Read my lips: Beware of Russia. The leaders are not a peaceful or altruistic bunch!

Z would like to add here that I've been saying the following for YEARS when I've seen the kind of nonthinking, Marxist-loving automatons our universities are producing lately: "They let us think WE won the Cold War by putting their missiles down and simply sent the professors into the US to get us from within."

Congratulations, HUGO (drat)

Yes, ladies. I know.
I just had to post this because it bugs me that Miss VENEZUELA was chosen as Miss Universe..... I hate to think of Hugo Chavez happy about ANYTHING.
Yes, guys....... I know.
